The Parent Association at Ivy is composed of the Parent Council as well as room parents from various preschool and primary classrooms. The PA aims to support the school community by advocating for the rights of all children and families, and working together to foster a healthy and welcoming school environment. Families that are transitioning into school often find an added support as they settle into the school routine.
The PA also hosts and supports a variety of events in the year to find ways to give back to our community, where our parent volunteers find opportunities to contribute to the fun, friendships and festivities in meaningful ways. Our PA coffee and ice cream socials are popular ways to connect with the parent body while also discovering a source of support and developing lifelong friendships.
At Ivy, we provide students with a myriad of service opportunities both inside and outside of school. We partner with well-established local community organisations to allow students to engage in different service areas such as medical and healthcare operations, special ability groups, and training and coaching programs. Through these efforts, we hope to build in our saplings a sense of citizenship and service - thereby not only helping others, but also expanding their own worldview, developing empathy and leadership and realising the importance of creating impact. They also return to their classrooms with a renewed sense of purpose and a better understanding of how their learning applies in the real world.
The Ivy School in collaboration with The Indus Hospital launched the Tarbiyat Program for children. The Program aims to instil the values of helping out others to make children more compassionate towards the less fortunate and share their blessings.
The Annual Ivy Blood Drive is a successful Parent Association arranged event where parents contribute to the blood bank at the Indus Hospital. It is a well-loved and spirited event with strong school participation and a sense of citizenship and giving.
Every Ramadan, our students come together to celebrate the spirit of giving. Parents and students meet on campus on "Packing Day" to pack collected items for the Paediatric Cancer Ward at the Indus Hospital Karachi. We hope you get better soon!
Saplings from Grade 1 and 2 organised a bake sale for flood relief efforts. The tables were filled with all kinds of delectable baked goodies, and everyone bought a little something to help the cause. All funds were donated to the Mama Baby Fund which is providing women and new-borns in flood-affected areas with emergency medical treatments and supplies.
This October, we joined hands with Karachi Down Syndrome Program (KDSP) to inspire young minds and advocate for inclusion in society. To inaugurate the launch of our partnership, the co-founders of KDSP, Ali and Farzeen Allawala visited Ivy and shared their incredible journey with us.
